@Sea Mac: Nice Plants! My plants died a few month ago. I got them from ebay and they were very bad.
@topic: I don't think that Salvia plants will grow higher than 10 feet! Usually they grow circa 2 meters high.

interesting... I once watched german television where a woman stated that speaking to a plant would improve its growth... maybe there's some truth behind that smile.gif

This picture is a month later:
Bild: http://seamac.info/cupboard/garage/garden/200706/20070613largestsalviadivinorumtreeincaptivity.jpg

I think he grows faster when I talk to him because he knows he is Loved! See for yourself how much all plants in the first pictures have grown ...

You cannot see the pot he is in because the little plants have grown up around him now. And "Sally" grew 15 inches in 21 days ...

As of June 13th Sally is 41 inches tall:
Bild: http://seamac.info/cupboard/garage/garden/200706/20070613sallyis41inches.jpg

And she has 13 inch Leaves now!
Bild: http://seamac.info/cupboard/garage/garden/200706/20070613leaf13incheslong.jpg

(Edit: she grows a meter in the next 2 months!)

I looked at this picutre for about five minutes. This plant is just amazing! If it gets any larger, it becomes the worlds first Salvia tree. w00t.png
I just hope the plant is strong enough to hold it's own weight.

No. That Plant cannot hold it's weight up. No Salvia divinorum plant grows much taller than two meters in the wild be cause it falls over, or breaks off a piece and throws it down in the mud! Salvia is like Celery stalks in softness but does not have the strings inside it like Celery does. Salvia's branches bend down or flip over when they get long. All Salvia Stems and Branches are hollow, and they are very flexible when they are young and tender.

Typically the plant grows until it is too tall and when the wind blows the whole stem falls over on it's side into the mud and, over the next several weeks, EACH Node puts roots down and a new stem up: creating an instant hedge of Salvia.

Each Plant has at least a Bamboo Stick to hold it up: Calvin has dozens of 6 foot bamboo tomato stakes and 6 feet "Steel Cored Stakes", and one 8 foot high pole to lean on. He would have thrown away 3 foot long branches a year ago if I didn't support him! If I pulled all the poles out of his pot he would collapse into a tangled stack of very long cuttings right away.

mrgreen.gif

"i wonder how you keep your plants clean from aphids and stuff ... "

I buy bags of Ladybugs and pour them out on my plants: I also bought a Mantis egg case and last week a hundred baby preying Mantis came out to walk all over my trees and eat up every other bug on them! (Pictures soon!)

But, I can't keep them clean: all I can do is put more bugs on them. They Had Aphids on them last time I looked. But all the new Praying Mantis shall grow fat upon the aphids and Spider Mites soon.

But I don't CARE if Ladybugs or Praying Mantis stroll up and down all over all my trees. In fact I'm rooting for them!

Here is a new Picture.

Calvin grows BIGGER! Almost twice as tall as I am. Soon he will hit the Tarp above him.

Bild: http://seamac.info/cupboard/garage/garden/200708/calvinandcarl.gif

Tall above the house windows: Almost to the drainpipe on the roof! I must use a ladder to work on him now!

Happy growing to all my German pen-pals!

Bild: http://seamac.info/cupboard/garage/garden/200708/20070830eastgarden.jpg

Pictures are taken August 30th. Look back through this topic and see ALL the pictures of this tree as he gets bigger and bigger each time I post.

By the way: that is not all one tree! Sweetie and Sally and Sammy and Suzi and a Dozen more are around him! Sally and Sammy are almost 7 feet tall!

That is a Small forest of Salvia Plants.

I got a question, can every salvia plant grow this size if you put them into a big bucket?
Or are you doing something special to your plants? Are you growing salvia on your own special way?

Please dont say its your secret cwy.png

As far as I know, yes. Salvia needs LOTS of room for her roots if you want her to grow that big.

The only things I'm doing .... A BIG enough Pot / No Peat Moss in the Soil Mix / Support poles to tie to / Plenty of Sunshine and Time and Water / And Miracle-Gro fertilizer a couple of times a month.

I DO grow them my own special way: I talk to them. I SUSPECT that the Same thing is Happening in my Garden as what Happened in Findhorn Bay Gardens in the Mid 1960s: http://www.findhorn.org/about_us/display_n...p#anchor-garden somehow they grew the most giant fruits and herbs and Vegetables ... 42 pound Cabbages! I'm just doing this with whatever plants I have at hand (And it was Salvia that first responded to it).

http://www.findhorn.org/whatwedo/vision/cocreation.php

"Co-creation with nature

Eileen and Peter Caddy and Dorothy Maclean all followed a disciplined spiritual practice for many years before they came to live at Findhorn, and they continued their regular meditation times when they came to live at the caravan park.

In May, 1963 Dorothy Maclean received an insight from within as she meditated:

. . . The forces of nature are something to be felt into, to be reached out to. One of the jobs for you as my free child is to sense the Nature forces such as the wind, to perceive its essence and purpose for me, and to be positive and harmonise with that essence.

When Dorothy shared this insight with Peter, his idea was to apply to their fledgling garden what Dorothy learned from the forces of nature. Dorothy then received this insight:

Yes, you can cooperate in the garden. Begin by thinking about the nature spirits, the higher overlighting nature spirits, and tune into them. That will be so unusual as to draw their interest here. They will be overjoyed to find some members of the human race eager for their help. "

There: that is the Magick I AM using! I Talk to my Plants and then I LISTEN to what they SAY ...

Of Course, you have to be Spiritually attuned (Or Crazy) to do this: but Everyone can Practice at it.

Or maybe it's the Miracle-Gro ... you decide. I think that EVERYONE can use 'love magick' to grow GIANT Plants!

TREE! mrgreen.gif

Say it: "That is a Salvia TREE"!

(Unmanageably large! I'm Scared! cwy.png Suppose he falls over on my house? )
